South Dakota in N Scale Part I.a.

Just thought I'd add a few photos of a train in several places along the layout:

The track looks kinda high right now, but after I add ballast and grass, it'll be a lot less of an eye-sore.

South Dakota in N scale Part I.

South Dakota, the state I identify myself with, is a state that has a long railroad history with a unique story to tell that is unlike the history of any other US state.  For college, I wanted to have a small train layout, and this project is making that a reality.  Being only 2x3 feet, the N scale project I'm working on is the perfect example of something simple yet fun.  I haven't enjoyed the hobby this much since I started 10 years ago with my first train layout.

As of writing this, the layout has completed framework, sub-scenery, and has been painted.  Next will be wiring the track and after that will be scenery and final details.  So really, I'm about half way done.  There will probably be another large post or two after this one about construction of the layout, so keep an eye out for those.

For now though, I want to take a journey through the first part of construction up until current with a photo tour:

As you can see, the layout is nearly done being painted.  I'm still waiting for the glue to dry on the underlayer of foam, so I can't paint the creek bed and small pond until tomorrow.

That's really about it for now.
